Poetry Tuesday continues

Now we are

“The sand shifted, carried by tiny hands. The men took their stand on the least trivial subjects of their lives, trivial as they were. The oceon waves pushed in and pushed out, women and their telephones packed their things, passing fishermen and their poles. The sun vanished beneath the clouds’ worn out arms. No one knew, the radio had been turned off.

Now we are alone.

Then we were alone.”
